18-Year-Old Last Seen on Halloween Found Dead; Sister's Heartbreak

An 18-year-old from California, Mai Sai Vue, was last seen on Halloween. Her tragic fate came to light when her body was discovered on the shoreline near McNears Beach in San Rafael on November 28. The Marin County Sheriff’s Office has been leading the investigation.

Details of the Discovery

The body was found "fronting Point San Pedro beside the Bay waters," in a precarious and difficult-to-access location. Marin County Search and Rescue Team personnel, along with other First Responders, were able to recover the remains. Due to the poor physiologic condition of the body, death was declared at the scene without any resuscitative aid provided.This discovery came just days after she was last seen around 11 p.m. local time on October 31. She was reportedly attending a concert venue with friends and family members at the time.

Initial Search and Investigation

The San Francisco Police Department initially asked for the public's assistance in searching for Mai Sai Vue. They described her as wearing a white dress, black leggings, and black high heels. As the investigation continues, the cause and manner of her death are pending based on the conclusion of the investigations by both the San Francisco Police Department and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office - Coroner Division. A forensic postmortem examination with routine toxicology testing is still pending completion.

Family's Struggle

Mai Sai Vue's sister, Katelynn, wrote on GoFundMe about the difficult time she is facing. She said, "I am still in disbelief of having to ask for everyone's support and favor in donations of her funeral expenses as she is my only sister who I had hoped to grow old with. I am at a loss for words and hoping that with your support, I can send my sister off well." The GoFundMe has raised over $15,000 for funeral expenses, describing Mai Sai as "very intelligent" and a "sweet person." Her funeral is scheduled for December 18, with a burial set for the following day in Sacramento.Katelynn also thanked those who helped in the search for her sister. She wrote, "Although it was not the news we had hoped for, we are still grateful to know that we have found her and can send her off properly."
