Acadiana Music Showcase: The Debtors on World Cafe
2024-12-18
Louisiana's Cajun Country stands as a remarkable and distinct region within the United States. It derives its name from Acadiana, which was established after the French-speaking Acadians, or Cajuns, were banished from Canada in the 18th century. This vibrant cultural melting pot is the focus of our monthly series, Acadiana Music Showcase, brought to you by our friends at KRVS, the affiliate station in Lafayette, Louisiana. Through music, we explore the rich heritage and unique spirit of this area. Today, in the fourth installment of the Acadiana Music Showcase, we are honored to present a performance by the Lafayette quintet, The Debtors. They have graced stages across Louisiana and even at South by Southwest. Their latest album, Everyone is Alright, released in March, will have a song featured later in the mix. But they kick things off with a track from their 2019 debut album, Simple State.
