AJ Michalka and Miley Cyrus share a deep-rooted connection that dates back. The 33-year-old Aly & AJ musician and actress recently took the stage during her run as Strawberry Shortcake on season 12 of The Masked Singer, performing a cover of Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball”. This performance has led her to look back on the time spent with the Grammy winner during their days on the Disney Channel.

Core Memories and Shared Moments

Not only did Aly & AJ open for Cyrus on the 2006 Best of Both Worlds Tour, but Hannah Montana premiered on the exact same night as their Disney Channel Original Movie Cow Belles. AJ recalls, “Me, Aly and Miley had this special moment on set. We were able to interview each other and talk about these new premieres. We were all filled with excitement and youth. That's a core memory with her that's truly adorable.”Outside of work, there are also memorable experiences. AJ remembers one Halloween when Cyrus came over and carved pumpkins with them at their house. They even had a pumpkin carving contest with a group of friends. “She's a very down-to-earth and cool person. Exactly what you expect, that's what you get. I love that about her,” AJ adds.

Stage Experience and Chemistry

Sharing the stage with Cyrus in arenas across the United States was an extraordinary experience for AJ. She says, “We had an amazing run together. We could have toured for months and really gelled on and off-stage. Our moms were friends, and our senses of humor were very similar. We even got to sing a Kiss song with her, [“Rock and Roll All Nite”] every night. It was a magical time.”

Looking Forward and Hopes

Although the former child stars haven't seen each other in a while, AJ hopes Cyrus gets a chance to see her performance of “Wrecking Ball”. She says, “I was going to reach out to Miley the night of the airing, but I didn't. It's silly because I haven't seen her in so long. I just want to reach out and tell her how much fun I had singing that song. It's truly great.”Aside from AJ's Masked Singer experience, she and Aly, 34, recently announced the title of their next album, Silver Deliverer, coming soon. This is an exciting new chapter in their careers.
