Arizona's New Country Music Show Celebrates Local Talent
2025-01-11

A fresh initiative in Arizona is set to highlight the state’s burgeoning country music scene. Starting January 12, a new weekly radio program called "Arizona on the Rise" will debut on KSWG-FM, known affectionately as Real Country 96.3. The show aims to provide a platform for local artists to gain exposure and share their music with a wider audience. Hosted by Dennis Petty, Diana Blewer, and local singer Shari Rowe, this hour-long series will air every Sunday evening at 7 p.m.

The format of the show revolves around featuring a different local country artist each week. Each episode will include interviews conducted by Rowe, followed by performances of six original songs by the guest artist and six tracks that have inspired them. Occasionally, an artist might even perform live in the studio. This unique blend of storytelling and music promises to offer listeners an intimate look into the lives and inspirations of Arizona’s homegrown talent. Shari Rowe, who has spent years traveling between Arizona and Nashville, emphasizes the importance of such a platform for local musicians. “It’s crucial for artists here to receive recognition and support right where they are,” she explains. “This show can help build a stronger, more vibrant music community in the Southwest.”

The vision behind "Arizona on the Rise" extends beyond just showcasing talent. The hosts hope that the program will inspire listeners to engage more deeply with local music, leading to increased fan bases and more performance opportunities for the featured artists. Ultimately, the goal is to foster a thriving country music culture in Arizona, positioning it as a significant hub for the genre. As Petty puts it, “We want to be the Nashville of the West, but with the authenticity that made Nashville great in its early days.” Through this initiative, Arizona is taking steps toward becoming a premier destination for country music, celebrating its rich heritage and the unique spirit of the West.
