Bearkats Aim for Redemption on Final Day of Music City Classic

After a challenging second day at the Music City Classic in Smyrna, Tennessee, the Sam Houston bowling team finds itself in sixth position. Despite posting a 2-3 record, their victories over top-ranked Jackson State and Fairleigh Dickinson have set them up with a promising 6-4 overall record heading into the final day. The competition remains fierce, with Youngstown State leading the cumulative pin count closely followed by Vanderbilt, Maryville, Jacksonville State, and North Carolina A&T.

Individually, the Bearkats showcased strong performances, particularly from Denise Blankenzee, who secured the 19th spot with an impressive average score of 204.0 and a peak game score of 246. Katie Paris also contributed significantly, finishing 28th with a 199.60 average. Coach Brad Hagen reflected on the day’s challenges, noting that the team allowed matchups to overly influence their mental approach.
