Unraveling the Incident at Buckingham Palace's Christmas Party

Details of the Arrest

The woman in question is alleged to have tried to assault a member of bar staff and broken a glass at a pub near the palace on Tuesday, December 10. She was among a group of about 50 royal staffers who had attended an early evening reception at the palace and then went to All Bar One in Victoria Street, London for a planned gathering. A witness described the scene, stating, "I've never seen one person get that crazy during a night out. She was on another level." The Metropolitan Police would not confirm the identity or profession of the arrested person but did confirm that officers were called to a bar in Victoria Street following reports of a customer smashing glasses and attempting to assault a staff member. The woman was arrested on suspicion of common assault, criminal damage, and being drunk and disorderly. She was taken into custody and released the following evening after being given a penalty notice for disorder.

Palace's Response

A Palace spokesperson said on Friday, December 13, "We are aware of an incident outside the workplace involving a number of Household staff who had previously attended an early evening reception at the Palace." Although this was an informal social gathering and not an official Palace Christmas party, the facts will be fully investigated, and a robust disciplinary process will be followed in relation to individual staff, with appropriate action taken. This shows the palace's commitment to maintaining discipline and addressing such incidents.

Christmas Preparations and Royal Family Events

Christmas preparations were underway at one of the royals' residences, Windsor Castle, in late November. King Charles is expected to host his own party for the extended royal family in the coming days before the family heads to his Sandringham estate in Norfolk for the holidays. This incident has added an interesting element to the festive season for the royal family.
