Organized by Lanona Nelson, this event has established a charitable foundation that offers scholarships to deserving students. Two recipients from Simmon’s College have already received financial assistance, along with unique backstage experiences. A Musical Celebration with a Heart
The first-ever Sky Soul Music Festival took place in August 2024, transforming Waterfront Park into a vibrant hub of R&B melodies. This event featured renowned artists such as Anthony Hamilton, Keke Wyatt, Sisqo, and Doug E Fresh, who captivated audiences with their performances. Beyond the entertainment, the festival holds a deeper purpose. Its organizer, Lanona Nelson, envisions it as a platform for fostering dreams and aspirations beyond just musical enjoyment.
Nelson chose Louisville due to its strategic location, which connects major cities like Indianapolis, Nashville, and Cincinnati. Her vision extends far beyond the festival grounds. By channeling a portion of ticket sales into the Sky Foundation, Nelson ensures that proceeds are used to support educational pursuits. The foundation awards scholarships to students passionate about music and the arts, aiming to bridge gaps left by limited resources.
