On October 23, 2024, the noncomMUSIC Alliance will host the fifth annual Public Radio Music Day, in partnership with the Alliance of Rural Public Media, and New Hampshire Public Radio. This annual celebration aims to connect communities through the universal language of music, highlighting the vital role of public radio in promoting diverse musical genres and supporting local artists.

Become a Part of NHPR's Everyday Broadcast

NHPR Music and ClassicalNH are dedicated to music education, artist discovery, and preserving the local music culture. They're inviting you to be a part of this vibrant ecosystem by sharing your original instrumental compositions. If selected, your work could be featured as part of the everyday broadcast, sandwiched between the stories you love. The deadline for submissions is October 21, 2024, and the requirements are simple: your composition must be an original, instrumental track of at least 2 minutes in length. Include your name, town, the title of the piece, and any relevant details about your music. If chosen, your composition will be aired during Morning Edition, All Things Considered, and/or ClassicalNH, with your name and hometown proudly announced to the audience. After that, your music will become a permanent part of NHPR's music library, ensuring your talent is celebrated for years to come.Are you already sharing your music on Spotify? Support Local Music Programming on NHPR

NHPR has expanded its musical program offerings, and they're thrilled to be the home of beloved shows like The Folk Show, Live from the Word Barn, and the nationally acclaimed Mountain Stage. For over 40 years, Mountain Stage has brought audiences live roots music, from legendary artists like John Prine to rising stars like Rhiannon Giddens and Bela Fleck.By becoming a sustaining member of NHPR at $23 per month, you can not only support this incredible lineup of local and national music programming, but you'll also receive a special reward – a double compilation album from Mountain Stage, "Outlaws and Outliers," pressed on vinyl and signed by the show's founder, Larry Groce. This album showcases some of the most legendary performances from the show's history, while also highlighting a new generation of gifted performers, including Molly Tuttle, Tyler Childers, Rhiannon Giddens, Margo Price, Birds of Chicago, Sierra Ferrell, and Jason Isbell.

Word of mouth can significantly boost attendance, and NHPR's YouTube page is a great place to find the latest Live from Studio D showcases featuring local and national talent. Don't forget to share these videos on your own social channels!Another way to support local music is by purchasing merchandise directly from the artists, such as CDs, vinyl, shirts, and posters. This direct-to-fan approach can make a big difference for musicians, especially those in smaller venues.
