Indy Pride Celebrates 30th Anniversary with Exciting Two-Day Music Festival
2025-03-01

The LGBTQ+ community in Indianapolis is set to experience an unprecedented celebration this June, as Indy Pride Inc. unveils its latest event, "Word of Mouth," a two-day music series that promises to be a highlight of the summer. Featuring renowned artists Natasha Bedingfield and Tinashe, the festival will take place on June 14-15 at the American Legion Mall downtown. This new format expands on Indy Pride's traditional single-day events, offering a more extensive program that includes both a parade and multiple performances. Tickets are available for purchase, and organizers anticipate a significant turnout, reflecting the growing importance of these celebrations in the local community.

For the first time, Indy Pride Weekend will span across several venues, including the Mass Ave parade on June 14 and festivities at Monument Circle over the weekend. The centerpiece of the event will be the Word of Mouth music series, which will run from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. each day. Headlining the first day is singer Natasha Bedingfield, famous for her chart-topping hit "Unwritten." Her performance will be accompanied by other notable acts such as Coco & Breezy and Aluna. On the second day, R&B artist Tinashe will take the stage, along with Big Wild and Snow Wife.

The decision to expand the event into a multi-day celebration marks a significant milestone for Indy Pride, which has been organizing LGBTQ+ events since 1995. Originally established to oversee annual celebrations on Monument Circle, the organization has grown to become a cornerstone of the community, hosting events that promote visibility and inclusivity. In recent years, the festival has attracted thousands of attendees, with highlights like Lizzo's performance in 2019 drawing crowds exceeding 35,000 people.

This year's lineup reflects the diversity and vibrancy of the LGBTQ+ community, with performances that cater to a wide range of musical tastes. Local talent Pat Yo Weave, a well-known drag queen, will serve as the host, adding an extra layer of excitement to the proceedings. As Indy Pride celebrates its 30th anniversary, the event serves as a testament to the progress made in promoting equality and acceptance within the community. Attendees can look forward to a memorable weekend filled with music, culture, and solidarity.

The introduction of Word of Mouth not only diversifies the offerings but also provides a platform for both established and emerging artists. With tickets priced affordably for both single-day and two-day passes, the event aims to make the celebration accessible to all. As Indy Pride continues to evolve, it remains committed to fostering a welcoming environment where everyone can come together to celebrate love, diversity, and self-expression.
