Lacefield Music Announces Closure of South County Mall Location After Three Decades
2025-02-26

A local music retailer, known for its piano sales and music education services, is preparing to shut down one of its two outlets in the St. Louis area. Lacefield Music has announced that it will be closing its doors at the South County Center location by the end of February, marking the conclusion of a 30-year chapter. However, customers can still visit the Chesterfield store, which continues to operate. The company recently revealed this decision through social media posts and is currently conducting a clearance sale until the final day of the month.

Founded in 1995 by Cathy Krubsack and her son Steve Lacefield, this family-owned business has been an integral part of the community, providing a wide range of musical instruments and educational opportunities. For three decades, the South County Mall location has served as a hub for musicians seeking high-quality Yamaha pianos, used keyboards, and organs. Additionally, Lacefield Music has offered sheet music and music lessons, fostering a vibrant musical culture in the region.

The announcement of the closure came with mixed emotions from the company. In their recent post, they expressed both sadness and gratitude for the support received over the years. "We've loved helping musicians find their perfect pianos," they wrote, reflecting on the countless individuals who have walked through their doors in search of inspiration and guidance. Despite the bittersweet nature of this decision, Lacefield remains committed to serving the community through its Chesterfield location.

The transition marks a significant shift for Lacefield Music, yet it also symbolizes resilience and adaptability. As the company moves forward, it aims to continue its legacy of excellence in music retail and education. While the South County Mall location will soon be history, the spirit of Lacefield Music lives on, ready to inspire future generations of musicians at its remaining venue.
