In a heartwarming turn of events, Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane is rejoicing over the renewed success of her film Sanam Teri Kasam. Initially met with disappointment during its first release, the movie has now found a new wave of appreciation. Hocane expressed her deep gratitude and disbelief at this unexpected resurgence. The film's newfound popularity has also sparked discussions about cultural exchange between India and Pakistan in the entertainment industry. Hocane emphasized the importance of mutual appreciation and open borders for artistic collaboration.
In an interview with ETimes, Mawra Hocane shared her emotional journey surrounding the film Sanam Teri Kasam. When it was first released, the movie did not receive the recognition it deserved, leading to a sense of heartbreak for Hocane and the entire cast. However, upon its recent re-release, the film has garnered significant acclaim, which she described as nothing short of miraculous. "It feels like a miracle, unbelievable and of course I’m so grateful," Hocane said, expressing her overwhelming joy.
Hocane revealed that she had lost touch with her co-star Harshvardhan Rane and the rest of the team due to the film's initial failure. Despite this, she praised Rane as a wonderful co-star and even hinted at the possibility of a sequel. "Harshvardhan is a wonderful co-star, so much to learn from! Unfortunately, I’ve not been in touch with anyone; the failure of the film was immensely heartbreaking for all of us," she admitted.
The enduring appeal of Sanam Teri Kasam lies in its honest portrayal of a pure love story, resonating deeply with audiences over the years. Hocane reflected on the film's journey, saying, "Like they say, der aaye, durust aaye—I think it was destined to shine now."
Beyond her personal triumph, Hocane also addressed the broader issue of cultural exchange between India and Pakistan. She strongly supported the idea of Indian films being released in Pakistan and vice versa, emphasizing the mutual love and appreciation for each other's art forms. "They should definitely be open. Pakistanis love Indian movies just how Indians love Pakistani dramas. The love and appreciation is mutual and I think there are no barriers in our hearts," she stated.
Hocane fondly reminisced about her time in India, calling it an enriching experience. She expressed admiration for Bollywood, naming Salman Khan as her all-time favorite actor and Ranbir Kapoor as her favorite from the current generation. "I have had one of the most beautiful & enriching experiences in India, I’ve learnt so much that I’m so grateful for & after so many years it all feels like a sweet dream that passed. I have definitely watched a lot of Bollywood films. I absolutely love Salman Khan sir when it comes to old or new movies. From the current lot my favourite is Ranbir Kapoor for sure, I’ve always admired his work," she concluded.
This revival of Sanam Teri Kasam serves as a powerful reminder that true art can transcend initial setbacks and find its rightful place in the hearts of audiences. It also highlights the importance of fostering cultural exchange and mutual respect in the global entertainment industry.
