2025-02-21

The spring semester at the University of Connecticut has flown by, with February already more than halfway through. As students gear up for the approaching spring break, there’s no shortage of entertainment to keep everyone engaged. This weekend promises an array of live music events across Connecticut, offering a perfect escape from the daily grind.

This Friday night, music enthusiasts have two exciting options to choose from. In West Haven, Crunch House is hosting a diverse lineup of bands that are sure to captivate audiences. Featuring acts primarily from outside Connecticut, this event offers a unique opportunity to discover fresh talent. Among the performers are Hey I’m Outside from Massachusetts and Juicer from Brooklyn, along with local favorites like Wurley from New Haven. Meanwhile, back in Storrs, The Dog P0und is set to host a memorable three-band show. Headlined by Ruby Leftstep, known for their melodic alternative rock, the evening will also feature Death Valley Sun Troopers and Blood’s a Rover, adding a mix of punk and indie rock to the lineup.

The weekend continues into Saturday with a special afterparty at The Dog P0und, celebrating the end of the Rainbow Center’s annual drag show. Dubbed "Love After Dark," this event will feature DJ SD-129 spinning hypnotic beats until the early hours of Sunday morning. For those who can’t get enough, Monday night brings another musical treat at Cafe Nine in New Haven. A powerhouse lineup of punk and garage rock bands, including Psycho Brat and Venus Kiss, will take over the iconic venue, ensuring that the week ends on a high note.

The vibrant music scene in Connecticut serves as a reminder that even in the busiest times, there’s always room for joy and creativity. These events not only provide entertainment but also foster a sense of community among students and locals alike. By embracing these opportunities, we can find balance and inspiration amidst our hectic schedules, making the most of every moment.
