Unlocking Cultural Experiences Through Library Passes in Columbus
2025-02-23

Columbus residents now have an innovative way to enjoy local entertainment without breaking the bank. The Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML) has introduced a Culture Pass program that allows library cardholders to gain free access to various cultural venues. This initiative, which began in 2018, aims to enhance public engagement with the arts by providing passes similar to borrowing books. Initially limited to just two institutions, the program has expanded significantly and now includes over a dozen participating organizations across the city.

The latest addition to this enriching program is Chamber Music Columbus, offering two passes at each of CML's 23 branches. These passes grant admission for two people to select events, including a performance by Mnozil Brass on March 8th at the Southern Theatre. Known for their exceptional musical talent and humorous antics, this Austrian brass septet promises an evening filled with laughter and music. Additionally, the Ariel Quartet will perform on May 3rd as part of the final concert of Chamber Music Columbus' 2024-25 season, also available through the Culture Pass.

Access to culture and arts should not be a privilege but a right for all community members. By expanding opportunities for affordable entertainment, the Culture Pass program fosters greater appreciation and participation in local artistic offerings. From ballet performances to zoo visits, from symphony concerts to botanical gardens, this initiative opens doors to diverse experiences that enrich lives and strengthen community bonds. Embracing such programs encourages more people to explore and engage with the vibrant cultural landscape around them.
