The Furman Symphony Orchestra: A Collegiate Orchestral Gem

The Furman Symphony Orchestra is one of the few collegiate orchestras in the country composed entirely of undergraduate students. With over 60 members, the orchestra rehearses twice a week and presents four to five performances each year. These performances include collaborations with the Oratorio Chorus and the winners of a biennial Concerto Competition.

The students in the Furman Symphony Orchestra work on technical and musical aspects of orchestral performance in a professional environment. This allows them to gain valuable experience and develop their skills as musicians. The orchestra's goal is for students to experience playing symphonic poems, concertos, symphonies, operas, and overtures during their time in the ensemble. It provides them with a platform to showcase their talent and passion for music.
