Thanksgiving traditions vary greatly from one family to another. Some families choose to cook a large feast and host friends and relatives in one place, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Others get creative and come up with unique ways to spend time together. One popular option is to head to the movies and enjoy the latest blockbusters.
At an AMC theater in Eden Prairie, FOX 9 caught a glimpse of what movies were drawing the crowds on this Turkey holiday. Names like Gladiator II, Wicked, and Moana 2 were on many people's lips. The theater was filled with the energy of families and kids enjoying the big screen.
Jodene and Mike Wartman decided to celebrate their Thanksgiving a day early by seeing the musical Wicked at the AMC theater. "Instead of staying home feeling bad because we were alone on Thanksgiving, we saw a great movie," said Jodene. Their kids were with their in-laws, allowing them to have a special time together.
For others, the day started with a feast and a roast beef before they moved on to enjoy a different kind of entertainment. Graham Poage said, "We've had enough of the house all morning, cold outside. So we're excited to get out, do something different."
Rebecca Swenson and her friends also found their way to the movies. "Because we were all kind of looking for something to do today. We did family things earlier. And so now we're having Friendsgiving at the movies," she said. The movies provided a perfect opportunity for them to come together and have a good time.
With so many options available this holiday weekend, Jodene and Mike Wartman are looking forward to seeing more movies. "Perhaps Gladiator II we'll see at some point, or maybe Moana 2, they're both out pretty quick, aren't they," said Mike.
The fun doesn't stop there. Before Christmas, more movies are set to hit the theaters, like Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Mufasa: The Lion King. This lineup ensures that movie buffs have a lot to choose from and look forward to in the coming weeks.
