June Shannon, the star of Mama June: Family Crisis, has been through a lot in the past year. Her late daughter Anna passed away at the age of 29 due to stage 4 adrenal carcinoma. Since then, Shannon has taken custody of her granddaughter Kaitlyn, who is now 12 years old. It has been a journey of adjustment and remembrance as Kaitlyn brings back memories of her mother.

Kaitlyn's Presence at Home

Kaitlyn has been with Shannon for over a year now. They used to live in the house where Anna passed away, and it has been a process for her to adjust. Shannon notices that Kaitlyn already shows similarities to her mother. "If you want to know what Anna looked like as a teenager, look at Kaitlyn. Her attitude, the way she talks, and the way she acts - it's all Anna," Shannon shares.It's been a significant change for Shannon and her husband Justin. When they got married in 2022, they didn't have kids in the house. But with Anna and Eldridge and the kids moving in before her passing, and now Kaitlyn being there, it's an adjustment period. However, it's not a bad one. When something happens, Shannon calls Pumpkin (her daughter Lauryn) and puts it in the family group chat. They try to involve Eldridge as well because Anna would have wanted him to be a part of it.

The Custody Battle and Its Aftermath

Shannon had to go through a custody battle to gain custody of Kaitlyn. Her ex-husband Michael Cardwell was initially the guardian of Kylee. But Shannon won the battle and now has Kaitlyn with her. Along with that, they also had to deal with Michael taking Kylee away and moving to Alabama. It was a challenging time, but Shannon is determined to make things work for Kaitlyn.
