"KayCee Stroh Remembers First Time Watching HSM with Kids (Exclusive)"
2024-12-09
PEOPLE recently had the pleasure of chatting with KayCee Stroh, a 40-year-old woman who is now a wife and a mother to daughters Zetta, 11, and Lettie, 8. Two years ago, her "baby wildcats" had the unforgettable experience of watching her iconic movies for the first time. Before that, they were accustomed to seeing their mom stopped in public by fans of her character Martha Cox. Stroh shares, "They've grown up with this being a significant part of my life. I get recognized everywhere we go, and they've always known about their mom's presence in the Disney movies."

An Ongoing Family Joke

She continues, "There was this lighthearted joke in our family about how the kids didn't want to watch High School Musical yet. But two years ago, my oldest daughter, the First Baby Wildcat, decided it was time. 'Mom, we really need to watch this,' she said. Our family of four then watched the first movie together. I was waiting for their reaction, and they were eager to watch the second one and stay up late. It was such a cute moment."

Watching with a New Perspective

Now as a mom, watching the movies again, Stroh realizes the timelessness of High School Musical. She says, "I was amazed. This is so good. Looking at it with different eyes now, all the songs are absolutely beautiful. The lyrics are timeless, and the dance numbers were phenomenal. We really did something great here."

The Normalcy of It All

However, she also finds it "weird" how normal it is for her children to see her on TV. She explains, "It's an interesting dynamic for these kids raised in a family of actors. They're like, 'Oh yeah, Mom's on TV.' It's just normal to them. When people say, 'Oh, I saw your mom on Andy Mack or this,' they respond, 'Yeah, that's just mom. She's on TV.' It's their norm, and it's quite a strange feeling."
