2024-12-09
Princess Kate Middleton's life is filled with various moments and events. One such instance that made headlines was when her youngest son Prince Louis impressively kept a secret from his sister Princess Charlotte. On December 6th, Princess Kate hosted her fourth annual Together at Christmas concert at Westminster Abbey in London. This event welcomed 1,600 guests and was a celebration of love and empathy. While chatting with performer Paloma Faith behind the scenes, the 42-year-old Princess of Wales revealed that Prince Louis, who is 6 years old, honored her wish to keep the ballet performance during the service a secret from Charlotte. Charlotte has a deep love for ballet dancing.

Louis' Secret-Keeping Ability

As seen in a video shared to X by Kate Mansey of The Times, the Princess of Wales explained that "Louis heard me talk about the dancers over tea." Paloma Faith interjected with "Ballet dancers?" and Princess Kate confirmed, "Ballet dancers, exactly." She continued, "So I said, 'Louis, can you keep a secret? I want it to be a surprise for Charlotte, who loves her ballet dancing,' and he said, 'I won't say anything!'. And he's kept the secret for about two weeks. This is quite remarkable for a six-year-old!" Princess Kate said with a smile as she stood with Together at Christmas performers Paloma Faith, Olivia Dean, and Gregory Porter.Later, she continued, "And then this morning he was like, 'Please Mummy can I tell her? I'm bursting!', as she was referring to her school drop-off routine with her kids Prince George, 11, Charlotte, and Louis. "I think, hopefully, he's kept on with it. I don't think he's said anything," the royal mom added. Before leaving, she asked Charlotte if she knew the surprise, and Charlotte said no.

The Bond between Charlotte and Louis

Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are known to share a very tight bond. During the Together at Christmas carol service on December 6th, soloists from The Royal Ballet and students from The Royal Ballet School performed. This was a treat for Charlotte. Princess Kate and Prince William have often spoken about their daughter's passion for dance over the years. In an image shared to X, Charlotte was even seen practicing third position during the night.

Kate Middleton's Initiative

Princess Kate spearheaded the Together at Christmas carol service with The Royal Foundation in 2021. This was a way to thank those who gave back to their communities during the COVID pandemic, and it has continued as a tradition ever since. It has become a staple on the royals' annual calendar. The latest iteration of Together at Christmas was especially meaningful as it marked Princess Kate's most major event since she shared on September 9th that she completed chemotherapy. In March, she announced that she was undergoing treatment for cancer and reduced her royal duties to focus on her health.

Behind-the-Scenes Reflection

In a rare reflection behind the scenes that night, Princess Kate also said in conversation with Paloma Faith, "I didn't know this year was going to be the year that I've just had." The singer replied, "The unplanned." The Princess of Wales repeated with a nod, "The unplanned, exactly." She added, "But I think lots of people this year have had such challenging times, and many who are here today."Princess Kate may have been thinking of the families and survivors from Southport invited to Together at Christmas this year. This shows her support for the community grieving in the wake of the mass stabbing at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in July, where three children were killed and 10 others, including eight children, were injured. In addition to inviting those who gave back to their communities, Kensington Palace announced that the carol service guests would also include some who had experienced difficult times this year.
