2024-12-11
Kelly Ripa's emotions were in a bit of a tizzy during their recent Architectural Digest home shoot. The long-time couple allowed the magazine into their New York City townhouse to showcase their interior design skills. However, one area where Ripa, 54, felt her skills weren't accurately portrayed was in cooking.

Kitchen Mishaps and Surprises
During the Dec. 11 episode of "Live with Kelly and Mark", Ripa shared her thoughts on the scrambled eggs. "They were like, 'Kelly, we made scrambled eggs as if you had made scrambled eggs,' " she said. Looking at the eggs, she continued, "I would never make scrambled eggs like this. I am very proud of my scrambled eggs." The issue with the stand-in eggs was that they were dry and didn't look right. There was no soft cheese or crème fraîche. It was nothing like the way she makes the eggs, leaving her quite upset. Not only were the pre-scrambled eggs a disappointment, but Ripa and Consuelos, parents to Michael, 27, Lola, 23, and Joaquin, 21, were caught off-guard by the photographer Douglas Friedman's last-minute improvisation. "Our friend Douglas, who is the photographer, threw two eggs on the floor, and I thought Mark was going to die," Ripa quipped. "It was a real reaction. I was like, 'Ohh.' "The Contention over the Eggs
The eggs became a major point of contention, to the extent that Ripa felt the need to clarify in the Architectural Digest behind-the-scenes video. "When you see the eggs in the magazine, those are stunt eggs," she insisted. "I did not make those eggs. My eggs are gorgeous. They really are really pretty."The Final Outcome
Despite the challenges with the egg scene, Ripa and Consuelos were pleased with how the magazine made their home look. On their talk show, Ripa asked Consuelos, "Would you say it's the most glamorous version of the house ever?" He agreed, saying, "Yes, they made it look good."It was a unique experience for the couple, with unexpected moments and a focus on both their interior design and the small details like the eggs. Their home now has a new chapter in the Architectural Digest, showcasing both its beauty and the behind-the-scenes stories.
