Michael Polansky, a 46-year-old businessman and entrepreneur, went all out for Lady Gaga. He transformed his office into a home studio, a truly romantic gesture. As Gaga herself said, "Michael built a home studio. For Valentine's Day, he said, 'I have a surprise for you,' and he turned his office into a music studio. I mean, it's kind of romantic." This studio holds a special place in her heart and begins to "feel like an extension of my home."
Having a studio at her actual home seems like the perfect gift for Gaga, who is constantly creating music. She often frequents famous Malibu studios and has now found a creative space right at her doorstep.
While discussing her single "Disease," Gaga shared how she "nested" in these studios and how they became an integral part of her creative process. Working with Michael on the song was a unique experience.
"When we were working on 'Disease,' I was navigating my way through some of the initial lyrics that we had written in the studio... Michael and I were sitting together and we were all working on the song and he said, 'You know there's another way for you to say this.' His suggestion was 'super intimate' and he felt 'comfortable' vocalizing it because he 'really knew' me," Gaga revealed.
Polansky has been involved in Gaga's music before, serving as a co-executive producer on her Harlequin companion album for Joker: Folie à Deux. Gaga expressed her gratitude for their working relationship.
"I think part of, maybe, the magic of my relationship is that I can completely be my full creative self. It makes the producing process and the writing process really fluid with home life, too. It's like a beautiful way to live. I'm really grateful for that," she said.
The release of "Disease" on Oct. 25 held a special significance for Gaga. Working with Michael on this song allowed them to tap into deeper emotions and experiences.
"I think that this song and the lyrics took on a much deeper meaning because we were able to tap into maybe some things that I didn't really want to admit that I was writing about and, like, we were able to do that," Gaga shared.
Michael's words of encouragement, "Go do what you were born to do and do it with every cell in your body and have fun and be confident in your music," have had a profound impact on Gaga's creative journey.
