As the summer heat fades and the crisp autumn air settles in, Pelican Park in Mandeville, Louisiana, is gearing up for a season of cool weather and even cooler music. The community is eagerly anticipating the debut of the park's new events stage, which will host a series of captivating performances, starting with a spooky-themed concert on October 30th.

The new covered stage at Pelican Park boasts an impressive 1,200 square feet of usable space, allowing it to accommodate up to 60 seats for orchestras and larger bands. Designed by RCL Consultants LLC and built by Sieverding Construction Inc., the $830,000 public project is the latest addition to the park's expansive 550-acre grounds. The stage's grand unveiling will mark the beginning of a monthly "big concert" series, as Pelican Park marketing administrator Niki Butler explains. While the full performance schedule is still being finalized, the October 30th event is set in stone, promising a night of spooky delights.

Spooky Sounds and Thrilling Moves

The Covington Concert Band will take the stage on October 30th, delivering a performance titled "Music of the Night." Kicking off at 7:30 pm, the free concert will set the tone for the evening with a haunting and atmospheric musical experience. But the fun doesn't stop there. Attendees are encouraged to come dressed in their Halloween best, as the night will culminate in a "grand finale flash mob/dance party" to the iconic Michael Jackson hit, "Thriller."

A Multifaceted Celebration

The Groves: Pelican Park's Expanding Recreational Hub

The new stage is the latest addition to the Groves, a section of Pelican Park that has been undergoing a transformation since 2018. The Groves now boasts a walking trail, outdoor fitness equipment, a three-quarter-acre pond, shuffleboard and pickleball courts, all designed to enhance the park's recreational offerings. The stage's debut marks a significant milestone in the ongoing development of this dynamic community hub.

Pelican Park: A Recreational Mecca

Pelican Park itself has been a beloved destination for the Mandeville community since its opening in 1990. Over the years, the park has grown into a sports and leisure mecca, featuring 32 athletic fields, multiple gymnasiums, a dog park, miles of paved roadways, and a 46,000-square-foot events center.
