Meg Ryan is sharing the remarkable story of her path to motherhood through her daughter Daisy True. At 63, this When Harry Met Sally star has opened up to The Sunday Times, offering insights into her relationship with Daisy, who she adopted from China as a single parent in 2006. Alongside Daisy, Ryan is also the mother of Jack Quaid, shared with her ex-husband Dennis Quaid.

Insights from the Interview

In the December 15 interview, Ryan revealed that she had always envisioned adoption and was on the verge of it at various points. "It was particular to Daisy," she said. "I don't know how events conspired to bring us together, but it was perfect." She agreed with The Sunday Times that she and Daisy were meant to be together, much like the main characters in her Nora Ephron romantic comedies.Daisy is a college sophomore, studying English literature in New York City. Ryan hopes that one day, Daisy will have the opportunity to study in Bath, a UK city dear to her heart. Ryan herself is a "total anglophile" with a "little London dream" of living there. The late Nora Ephron gave Ryan some valuable advice about navigating fame. "Nora said to me, 'Just relax about the fame thing. It's gonna come and go, but it's not a defining thing like your kids are life-defining,'" Ryan recalled.

Raising Daisy

When it came to raising Daisy, Ryan was a bit strict. Daisy didn't have a phone until she was 15, and Ryan believes this has allowed Daisy to develop other interests. "She really is somebody who has a lot of different interests and she's a great reader and she, at least, has a memory of the phone not being everything," Ryan said.

Jack and Daisy's Differences and Similarities

Jack, 32, and Daisy are "so different," Ryan said, but they both share certain qualities. "They're hilarious, they're smart, they are kind, they're interested in other people, they're curious about the world." Ryan is proud to be their mother and enjoys every moment with them. "My kids have always been a blast. They're the best hang… They're so alive in their curiosity and interest in the world," she added. "It is a joy to me to know both of them. I have two of the greatest kids. They're just a blast. It is just a true joy."
