Music City Embraces Rodeo Tradition with Star-Studded Event
2025-03-04

A new chapter in Nashville's entertainment history is about to unfold as the city prepares to host its inaugural Professional Rodeo Cowboy’s Association (PRCA) event, the Music City Rodeo. Scheduled for May 29-31 at Bridgestone Arena, this exciting venture marks a significant milestone for both rodeo enthusiasts and country music fans alike. The event is brought to life through a collaboration between Tim McGraw’s Down Home, Skydance Media, and Humes Rodeo. Together, they have curated an unforgettable experience that will feature top-tier rodeo competitions and spectacular concerts.

The three-day extravaganza promises non-stop action and entertainment. Each day will highlight seven adrenaline-pumping rodeo events, including bull riding, barrel racing, team roping, and bronc riding. These contests will showcase some of the world’s most skilled cowboys and cowgirls competing for over $200,000 in prize money. Beyond the competitive spirit, attendees can look forward to family-friendly activities such as mutton bustin’, clown performances, and appearances by Rodeo Queens. The evenings will culminate in headline concerts featuring McGraw, Reba McEntire, and Nashville native Jelly Roll, all of whom are founding members of the Music City Rodeo.

Country music has long been intertwined with the essence of rodeo culture, and this event aims to celebrate that connection. For McGraw, bringing the magic of rodeo back to Nashville feels like a natural progression. Similarly, McEntire expresses her excitement about starting a new tradition in the city, emphasizing the perfect blend of country music and rodeo. Jelly Roll, a proud Nashvillian, sees this as a historic moment for the city, comparing it to the arrival of major sports teams and the construction of Bridgestone Arena. Moreover, the event will support Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, with a portion of proceeds dedicated to enhancing pediatric healthcare and research. This initiative underscores the community-focused values of the Music City Rodeo, ensuring that the event not only entertains but also gives back.
