Neptune Diner Reborn: A New Era Begins in Syosset
2025-03-10

In a significant transition, the iconic Neptune Diner has found a new home and lease of life in Syosset. After concluding its 40-year family-run tenure in Queens, this beloved eatery has undergone a comprehensive transformation. The diner’s new owners have taken over the former Celebrity Diner location, giving it a fresh makeover while preserving its cherished traditions. This relocation marks an exciting chapter for both the Katsihtis family and the local community, offering familiar comfort food with a modern twist.

A Fresh Start in Syosset

In the heart of Syosset, nestled along Jericho Turnpike, the newly revamped Neptune Diner stands as a beacon of culinary innovation and nostalgia. The establishment was previously known as Celebrity Diner, which had been a staple of the area for decades. When the lease for the original Neptune Diner expired in July, the Katsihtis family saw an opportunity to expand their brand. Led by Sarando Katsihtis, alongside his brother-in-law Konstantinos Doukas and cousin John Kaitsas, they embarked on an ambitious project to revitalize the space.

The renovation brought about a sleek and contemporary design, featuring a semi-circular bar that serves as the centerpiece of the dining room. New tables, booths, windows, and lighting fixtures create a welcoming atmosphere that is both bright and inviting. Despite the modern upgrades, the essence of the old Celebrity Diner remains intact. Regulars can still indulge in classic dishes like three-egg omelets, pancakes, club sandwiches, and oversized salads. For those seeking something more substantial, the menu offers a variety of pasta, Greek specialties such as moussaka and gyros, and Italian favorites including chicken, veal, shrimp, and meatball Parmesan.

Sarando Katsihtis emphasized the importance of maintaining the diner's tradition. “We didn’t want to change what people love,” he explained. “Our goal is to provide a warm and welcoming environment where families can enjoy good food and great memories.”

The new Neptune Diner is open daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., ready to welcome both longtime fans and newcomers alike.

This transition not only breathes new life into a well-loved local institution but also highlights the resilience and adaptability of family-owned businesses. By blending tradition with innovation, the Neptune Diner in Syosset promises to be a vibrant addition to the community, continuing to serve as a gathering place for generations to come.
