Discovering Nick Jonas' Diverse Career Paths

Disney Channel and Early Success

Nick Jonas, at the age of 32, shared his insights with Variety at the Red Sea Film Festival on December 12. He emphasized the significance of his time on the Disney Channel, crediting it as a creative school during his high school years from 14 to 18. The graduating class of Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and Demi Lovato all came up together, and their collective success is evident. The Jonas Brothers had a show called Jonas on the Disney Channel and starred in Camp Rock movies alongside Lovato. Meanwhile, Lovato had her own show Sonny with a Chance, and Gomez was known for starring on Wizards of Waverly Place. Cyrus had a leading role in Hannah Montana. This early exposure laid the foundation for his career.

Overcoming Challenges

Despite his fame, being known for his time on Jonas with his brothers Kevin and Joe didn't always work in his favor. In 2014, he wanted to audition for the drama series Kingdom but was told that a Jonas Brother wasn't right for the role. This wasn't the first time he'd heard such feedback. There were other projects where he faced similar rejections, which was really discouraging. However, he didn't let these setbacks hold him back.

Solo Career and Broadway Comeback

Since splitting from the brothers' group in 2013 and reuniting in 2019, Jonas has had several successful roles in both movies and television. He also found success as a solo artist. In 2025, he will be returning to Broadway, where he got his start at the age of seven. He is taking on a role alongside Tony-winning actor Adrienne Warren in Jason Robert Brown's The Last Five Years. He shared that one of the things he's most looking forward to is being around a community of people who share the same passion. The beauty of this art form, he believes, is that you truly find your people. There is a bit of pressure, but the good nerves make it exciting. He spent a week back in New York working on the material with Jason, who is wonderful to work with and meticulous about every note. When you understand the intricacies of his work, it becomes even more fun to play in that sandbox.
