Pixar's New Film Elio Introduces an Unlikely Earth Ambassador
2025-03-19

Disney has unveiled the first full trailer for Pixar's upcoming film, Elio, set to premiere on June 20. This animated feature introduces audiences to a young boy who becomes Earth's accidental ambassador in an intergalactic assembly. The story revolves around the titular character, voiced by Yonas Kibreab, an enthusiastic 11-year-old who dreams of being taken by extraterrestrials. His unexpected journey begins when he is mistakenly chosen as Earth's leader and transported to join representatives from across the universe.

The production of Elio faced some changes along the way, with Domee Shi and Madeline Sharafian taking over directing duties following Adrian Molina’s departure. Produced by Mary Alice Drumm, the film initially had a planned release date in early 2024 but was postponed. Despite the delay, anticipation remains high after new clips were showcased at D23 last August. According to Kibreab, viewers can expect a range of emotions, including laughter and perhaps even tears, alongside an overall sense of joy due to the movie's humor and thrilling storyline.

Audiences are eagerly awaiting Elio, especially after the triumph of Inside Out 2, which topped the global box office earlier this year and received an Oscar nomination for best animated feature. The film promises not only entertainment but also a message about embracing one’s uniqueness. Through Elio’s adventures, Pixar encourages everyone to recognize their potential and contribute positively to the world, no matter how ordinary they may seem.
