Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans' highly anticipated holiday action film Red One has made an astonishing impact. In its first four days on Prime Video, it attracted a record-breaking 50 million worldwide viewers. This feat surpasses the previous record held by Road House from March 21, which managed to reach 50M global viewers in just its first two weekends.

Production and Release Details

Produced by Johnson's Seven Bucks and directed by Jake Kasdan, Red One dropped on Prime Video on Thursday, Dec. 12, after a 28-day theatrical window. Originally planned to go straight to Prime Video, the $200M feature production underwent a change when it tested favorably, leading Amazon MGM Studios to opt for a theatrical release.Red One opened in theaters on Nov. 15 and has amassed over $175M worldwide to date. It continues to play in 3,003 U.S./Canada theaters and saw only a -39% decline in its fifth domestic weekend, earning $4.2M. It is also being shown in 3,300 theaters abroad. The movie received an A- Cinemascore and a 90% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Impact and Partnership

Given the overwhelming audience response to Red One both in theaters and on Prime Video, it is set to become a perennial holiday favorite. Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM Studios, expressed gratitude for the partnership with the filmmakers in finding the right strategy to reach the widest possible audience. Global Promotion and Partnerships

The Red One talent embarked on a global journey, making stops in Berlin, London, and New York for press and fan interactions. The movie's trailers garnered an astonishing 460 million combined views worldwide. Additionally, the studio brought Red One to one of the top ten games on Roblox, Anime Defenders, with a custom Red One-themed raid that attracted over 163 million global game visits and 337 million video views in its three-week integration. Anime Defenders recently brought back the Red One raid to celebrate the film's release on Prime Video. The movie also had promo partnerships with M&MS, Farmers, LG, Duracell, and Salt & Straw. There was a custom spot for the movie on Prime Video's TNF during the Ravens/Bengals game.
