Reese Witherspoon's Holiday Craft Disaster & Heartfelt Gifts
2024-12-08
Reese Witherspoon, at 48, has always had a special plan for the holidays - writing a book for kids. Her third book in the Busy Betty series, "Busy Betty & the Perfect Christmas Present," is now out. As a mom to Ava (25), Deacon (21), and Tennessee (12), she understands the importance of homemade gifts during the festive season. "My little boy was saying he didn't know what to get everyone, and I reminded him that anything he makes me will be loved more than any store-bought gift," she shares. This message is reinforced in the book.
Reese Witherspoon's Childhood Holiday Memories
When it comes to her own childhood holidays, Witherspoon was all about crafting presents. She would make watercolors, cards with markers, Rice Krispies treats, and chocolate chip cookies. Even now, she continues these traditions. One of her most coveted toys was Teddy Ruxpin. Her dad found the last one at a store, and she played with it every day. It was like a big tape player where she could put all her music.Holiday Traditions with Her Kids
Witherspoon and her kids enjoy various activities together during the holidays. They love ice skating, decorating, and making gingerbread houses. They decorate the porch with poinsettias, ribbons, and garlands and take family photos at Thanksgiving to create a Christmas card. For her two adult children, there's a bit of a change. Once they turn 20, they don't have to be in the Christmas card. But her 12-year-old still gets dressed up and participates. When it comes to making gingerbread houses, they use a kit. She once tried to make her own house but had an epic disaster as her engineering skills weren't up to par.Memorable Presents from Her Kids
Some of the most memorable presents from her kids come from the heart. When one of her kids was little, they gave her a jar filled with specific memories and compliments. It included things like "I love when you hug me after school" and "I love when we sing this song in the car." Another present was five letters that they wrote for her to open at different times over a year. These gifts are a testament to their family's sentimentality.Busy Betty & the Perfect Christmas Present, illustrated by Xindi Yan, is now available wherever books are sold.
