Responsibilities - A Closer Look

The SVP is tasked with effectively managing and motivating the US Administration staff, which encompasses copyright, mechanical licensing, royalty processing, audits, income tracking, and data analytics. This ensures that the department functions as a unified and efficient unit. They are responsible for managing the department, including employee hiring, staff oversight, and implementing robust business procedures. By refining and progressing department processes, they take full advantage of current and future technical systems. They also maintain ownership of the royalty bank accounts, overseeing cash receipts, intercompany transfers, and payments to external clients and fund bank accounts. Additionally, they take on the business ownership of the company's operational tools and work with the COO as a project manager to review alternative systems and lead the initiative.

Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with senior executives is crucial. They work closely with the CFO and VP of IT on a daily basis. Moreover, they collaborate with external collective management organizations like ASCAP, BMI, and the MLC, representing the company's rights. Working closely with the VP of Data Analytics, they develop transparency in reporting to aid the business. They ensure an efficient flow of required data to the Finance team and the company's investors.

Requirements - A Comprehensive Overview

With a minimum of 10 years of experience in the Music Publishing industry, specifically in Operations, Administration, or related fields, this role demands extensive expertise. At least 5+ years of managing high-performing and high-volume teams, including experience in managing managers, is a must. Proven project management skills are essential. A deep understanding of international music rights management, collective management organizations, rights flows, and licensing concepts is required. An analytical mind is needed to decipher concepts and develop and implement business procedures. A full understanding of data elements within the music ecosystem and how to leverage them for commercial advantage is also crucial. A working knowledge of music industry systems is advantageous. Excellent written and verbal presentation skills are necessary to work closely with senior executives, board members, and investors. Above all, a love and passion for music are essential. A BA or master's degree in the relevant field is preferred.
