San Marino RTV's Journey from Crisis to Success

Financial Stabilisation and Profit

Previously, the broadcaster was grappling with substantial financial losses, with nearly €2 million in 2023 and a projected €1.5 million in 2024. However, Roberto Sergio has stepped in and not only stabilised the situation but also managed to achieve a €26,000 profit in 2024. This turnaround is a testament to his leadership and strategic decisions. In addition to addressing the immediate financial issues, Sergio has also laid the foundation for future growth. A three-year (€1 million) investment plan from 2024 to 2026 in technological upgrades has been implemented, which has brought the broadcaster back into profitability. Over the past few months, cost-cutting measures have already saved nearly €500,000 and prevented job losses. This shows the broadcaster's commitment to financial prudence while still investing in its future.

Digitalisation and Modernisation

The investment plan aims to complete the broadcaster's full digitalisation, including the modernisation of its TV studios. By spring 2026, the broadcaster will be fully equipped with state-of-the-art digital technology, enhancing its production capabilities and reaching a wider audience. This digital transformation will not only improve the viewing experience for viewers but also open up new opportunities for revenue generation.A completely revamped programming schedule, set to launch on January 13th 2025, will offer a diverse range of high-quality content. This will help broaden the broadcaster's appeal and attract new viewers. The focus is on creating programming that caters to both Sammarinese and Italian audiences, thereby increasing the potential for advertising revenue.

Key Initiatives for 2025

One of the key initiatives for 2025 is the relaunched San Marino Song Contest. This contest aims to attract international artists and boost the broadcaster's prestige. The final of the contest will be widely broadcast across San Marino RTV, Rai Radio 2, and RaiPlay, reaching a wider audience and generating significant publicity.Through partnerships with Rai and investments in technology and digitalisation, San Marino RTV is aiming to expand its reach and establish itself as a significant broadcaster within San Marino and Italy. The broadcaster is now well-positioned to take on new challenges and opportunities in the ever-evolving media landscape.San Marino TV broadcasts locally and nationally via DTT and Europe-wide via satellite TV (Sky and tivùsat).
