Delivering an "Emergency Pizza" to Lucky Fans
The star wide receiver, who tore his ACL in October while starting a new chapter with the Houston Texans, tells PEOPLE that he is staying in the game thanks to a new partnership with Domino's. "It's just a great thing for me to be involved in," says Diggs, 31. "It was a good way to give back as fantasy football is quite serious."In this promotion, fans of Diggs who can prove they had him on their fantasy teams can win free pizza. "If you know anything about it, people talk a lot of junk if you're not producing points," Diggs said. "I thought this is a great opportunity to give the people something they could benefit from, even when I'm not playing."When the Maryland native tore his ACL in a late October game against the Colts, it was a crushing moment for the resurgent veteran. He was eight games into his career in Houston after an impressive run alongside quarterback Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. "It was a whirlwind of emotions when I got hurt," Diggs tells PEOPLE, adding that he was mentally prepared for the rehab process due to his college injury experiences. "I still think I'm more like Wolverine, invincible."Before the injury and despite having to adjust to Houston's heat and highway sprawl, Diggs says the transition to the Texans has been smooth. "You got to know that when I first got to Houston - even before I went there - I threw with C.J. [Stroud] and a few teammates before being with the whole team," he tells PEOPLE. "It felt like I knew them my whole life. We've been kicking it for a long time. It felt like brothers, for real. Every day I woke up happy, even with the heat. I was just blessed to be there."Courtesy of Domino'sRight now, Diggs says he is in a good place among "good guys" who hold each other accountable. Even if Stroud "drags" him to Bible study, he sees it as more than just football. "It's more layers to it than you would expect," Diggs says. "It's bigger than football."With his future in Houston uncertain and other teams vying for his services in free agency this spring, Diggs reflects on his years in Buffalo. Over four seasons, he had 37 touchdowns and 5,372 yards, which he considers a "great time." "I always want everybody to do well, except when they play me," he says about the Bills. "I navigate life with a lot of love no matter what. My time in Buffalo was amazing. I had a great year and season. Those years will never be forgotten."
