2024-12-17
Stephen Curry has indeed discovered a unique means to commemorate his 16th season in the NBA. On the significant day of Monday, December 16th, his liquor venture, Gentleman’s Cut, launched a remarkable $950 16-year-old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, branded as the Player Exclusive: Father and Son Edition. This extraordinary achievement holds great importance for the 36-year-old Curry, especially as his father, Wardell “Dell” Curry Sr., a highly respected NBA veteran, also spent 16 seasons in the league.

Honoring a Family Legacy

Stephen expressed in a press release shared with PEOPLE, “My pops set – and raised – the bar for us growing up, which makes this season that much more meaningful and special for our family.” He further added, “To commemorate the year, we’ve bottled this unique ‘Father and Son’ edition of Gentleman’s Cut, honoring the example my dad set for our family both on and off the court.” This bourbon, with its 100 proof, began distillation in August 2008 using a mashbill of 75 percent corn, 13 percent rye, and 12 percent malted barley. The description of the bourbon states, “The result is a delectable bourbon with notes of sweetness, spiciness, and smoke. An intense profile of dried cherries and caramelized elements jumps out of the glass, and as you delve into the drink, a nuanced hint of fine tobacco leaf can be tasted as it lends a warm earthy feel to the bourbon.”Stephen continued, “Just like so many others, I consider my father to be one of the greatest. Growing up, my father was an amazing role model to me; he showed me what it means to be a hard worker, have a solid work ethic, and give it your all.” He emphasized, “I’ve always looked up to him and admired his work ethic and skills so to be able to achieve a milestone that he also accomplished is an amazing feeling. I wanted to bottle this amazing feeling, and share it with the world, and the result was a delectable combination of flavors that came together through the Player Exclusive: Father and Son Edition.”

The Curry Family's Basketball Journey

Stephen has dedicated 16 years to playing for the Golden State Warriors after being drafted in 2009. Notably, he was a star guard on the Charlotte Hornets for 10 seasons. In a statement, Dell spoke about his son’s company, saying, “Gentleman’s Cut has always been at the forefront of celebratory moments for Stephen and our family, so to be able to release a limited edition bourbon inspired by our time in the NBA is a blessing.” He added, “I’m so proud of everything he has accomplished, and Gentleman’s Cut Players Exclusive: Father and Son edition is a testament to that.”
