Behind every successful coach stands a remarkable partner. For Ohio State University's football team, this dynamic duo is embodied by Coach Ryan Day and his wife, Nina. Since arriving in Columbus, Nina has become an integral part of the community, earning the affectionate title of "First Lady of Ohio State Football."
Nina and Ryan’s story began in their hometown of New Hampshire, where they grew up mere miles apart. From playing T-ball together as children to rekindling their romance post-college, their relationship has been marked by deep-rooted connections. Married in 2005, the couple has navigated the ups and downs of Ryan's coaching career with unwavering support. Despite frequent relocations for Ryan’s job, Nina remained steadfast, ensuring stability for their three children—Ryan Jr., Grace, and Ourania.
Ryan's rise to head coach in 2019 brought new challenges and recognition. While adjusting to the spotlight, Nina has embraced her role with grace, advocating for mental health awareness alongside her husband. Their personal experiences with loss have fueled their commitment to making a difference. Through substantial donations and the establishment of The Nina and Ryan Day Resilience Fund, they aim to provide essential mental health resources at Ohio State University.
Their journey exemplifies resilience and dedication. Nina and Ryan Day’s partnership goes beyond the sidelines; it’s a testament to the power of unity and shared purpose. As they continue to lead both on and off the field, their efforts inspire others to pursue their dreams while fostering a supportive community that values mental well-being.
