Vote for Your Favorite Christmas Movie: Clark vs. George & Frosty vs. Buddy
2024-12-12
Northern Colorado is in the midst of an exciting journey as it narrows down its list of the top Christmas movies. The first round of this Christmas movie competition came to an end last night, December 11th, reducing the field of the best Christmas movies from 32 to 16. Many classic favorites made it through to the second round, along with all three versions of "The Grinch" and the somewhat controversial "Die Hard." "The Polar Express" faced a tough first-round challenge against "Home Alone," a true contender. However, early 1990s nostalgia couldn't save "Jingle All the Way" from being eliminated in the first round. "The Family Stone," "A Christmas Carol," and "The Nightmare Before Christmas" also met their fate in the first round.

Uncover the Northern Colorado Christmas Movie Battle - Only One Will Prevail!

Second Round Matchups

The original animated "Grinch" is set to go head-to-head with Ralphie and his Red Rider BB gun from "A Christmas Story," promising a thrilling shootout. Buddy the elf and his snowball-fighting prowess will take on Frosty the snowman. The 2018 "Grinch" version aims to achieve what Hans Gruber couldn't - knock John McClane from "Die Hard" down and out. Real-life Santa (posing as department store Santa) will engage in a battle with Charlie Brown in a matchup between "Miracle on 34th Street" and "A Charlie Brown Christmas." Clark Griswold will go toe-to-toe with George Bailey for the title of ultimate Christmas dad in a matchup between two holiday classics that feels like a shame to be happening in the second round. Alas! Only one can advance.

In this intense competition, each movie brings its own unique charm and holiday spirit. "The Holiday" and "Fred Claus" represent different takes on the Christmas season. Dr. Seuss' "How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966)" and "Scrooged" offer contrasting interpretations of the Grinch story. "Elf" and "Christmas with the Kranks" showcase different family dynamics during the holidays. "Home Alone" and "The Polar Express" bring the magic of Christmas in different ways. "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Klaus" touch on the true meaning of Christmas in their own unique styles. "Love Actually" and "Jack Frost" add a touch of romance to the holiday mix. The 2018 "Grinch" version, "Jingle All the Way," "The Santa Clause," and "Miracle on 34th Street" all have their own stories to tell. "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" and "Four Christmases" offer different holiday experiences. "The Year Without a Santa Claus" and "Prancer" bring a touch of whimsy. "While You Were Sleeping" and "Frosty the Snowman" add to the holiday fun. "Noelle" and "A Christmas Story" present different aspects of Christmas memories. "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town" and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas (live action, 2000)" add to the diversity of the competition. And finally, "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and "Die Hard" bring a unique twist to the Christmas movie genre.
