Warning! Spoilers for 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days Episode “The Dark Is Rising”
2024-11-25
Niles Valentine finds himself in a challenging situation while trying to navigate the logistics of the knocking ceremony. After getting Matilda Nti to postpone the wedding, he now faces another hurdle as he realizes he needed a family representative at the ceremony to ask for her hand in marriage. Fortunately, Matilda has a mysterious family friend named Mr. Arc who agreed to be Niles' Ghanaian "father," but questions about his trustworthiness arise.

Unraveling the Mysterious Role of Mr. Arc in 90 Day Fiancé

Mr. Arc's Involvement in the Knocking Ceremony

Niles needed family present at the knocking ceremony to adhere to tradition. Since his family couldn't make the trip, Matilda suggested he seek help from a family friend and village elder named Mr. Arc. Mr. Arc took on the role of Niles' father rather strongly, immediately berating him for not consulting him earlier and not following his guidance. Despite his limited involvement, he was also disappointed when he learned the wedding would be postponed. He stands out as an eccentric character in the largely unlikable cast of Before The 90 Days Season 7, but it's clear that he's not Niles' actual father.

Mr. Arc's actions and words show his determination to guide Niles through Ghanaian customs, but his overbearing behavior at times makes the situation more complicated. It's a delicate balance as Niles tries to navigate his way through this cultural ceremony with the help of someone he just met.

As the story unfolds, it becomes evident that Mr. Arc's role is not straightforward. His insistence on certain things and his seemingly conflicting advice add to the intrigue and uncertainty surrounding the knocking ceremony.

Mr. Arc's Association and Its Implications

Earlier in the season, there were issues with Brian Muniz's frank sex conversations with his sister, but this father figure situation with Mr. Arc is a different beast. Mr. Arc speaks to Niles as if he were his real father, even though they had just met. In a sitcom, this might be a funny plot twist, but in real life, it raises concerns.

Niles has admitted that being in Ghana has sent his struggles with autism into overdrive. Mr. Arc's confusing behavior, combined with this, makes the situation even more worrying. While he gives some good advice, his demands for an immediate wedding and other actions seem suspicious.

It's important to remember that Matilda wanted to get married on this trip and that Mr. Arc is a friend of her family. There's a possibility that he may be looking out for their best interests and influencing Niles slightly. However, the uncertainty remains, and we'll have to continue watching 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days Season 7 to find out how this story ends.

90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days airs on TLC on Sundays at 8:00 p.m. ET. Despite the frustrations with the cast, this season has kept me hooked, and I'm eager to learn more when the tell-all specials start.
