2025-03-08

In the heart of Wayne Central School District, an exciting month-long celebration is underway to honor the 40th anniversary of Music In Our Schools Month. Joining forces with educational institutions across the nation, this district is highlighting the vital role that music education plays in shaping young minds and showcasing the remarkable talents of its students. Throughout March, various events will take place, including ensemble performances and theatrical productions, providing a platform for students to demonstrate their musical prowess.

A Month Filled with Melody and Drama

In the vibrant season of early spring, Wayne Central School District embarked on its commemorative journey on March 5, with the District Band Concert uniting Thomas C. Armstrong Middle School and James A. Beneway High School. This harmonious collaboration marked the beginning of a series of performances set to unfold at the James A. Beneway High School Performing Arts Center. The schedule includes:

  • March 11: An evening of choral beauty as the Thomas C. Armstrong Middle School Chorus takes the stage at 7 p.m.
  • March 12: The following night, the James A. Beneway High School Chorus will present their concert at 7 p.m., continuing the tradition of excellence.
  • Musical Production of Les Misérables: The high school's dramatic arts department will bring Victor Hugo's timeless story to life on March 28 and 29 at 7 p.m., with a matinee performance on March 30 at 2 p.m.

The community is warmly invited to attend these events, offering support and encouragement to the aspiring musicians and performers who are poised to shine on stage.

As a journalist observing these activities, it becomes clear that music education fosters not only artistic talent but also builds character and confidence in young people. These performances serve as a testament to the power of music in enriching lives and creating lasting memories. The dedication of educators and students alike reminds us all of the importance of nurturing creativity and expression through the arts.
