"Who's The Boss" Alum Danny Pintauro Hospitalized from Scooter Accident
2024-12-02
Danny Pintauro, a well-known figure, recently shared a harrowing experience. On Sunday, Dec. 1, the 48-year-old Who’s The Boss alum disclosed that the accident took place on the night of Thanksgiving. He was riding in a bike lane that was suddenly blocked with cones. "I was forced to choose between a van and a pylon," he said while sitting in the hospital. "The pylons really hurt!! I have a terrible scrape on my arm and was quite convinced I had broken my arm. But the next morning, it was much better, and I didn't worry as much."

Initial Symptoms and Concerns

Pintauro revealed that on Saturday, Nov. 30, he started experiencing pains in his chest, stomach, and shoulders. The pain became so intense that "I could barely breathe." After his husband Wil Tabares drove him to the hospital, a series of tests were conducted. A CAT scan, X-ray, and blood tests showed that he had "an infection in my bloodstream due to a tear in my stomach lining — air and stomach acid, etc, were escaping into my abdomen."

This was the most excruciating pain he had ever felt in his life. As a result, he had to undergo emergency surgery last night to repair the tear. The surgery went well, and now that the tear is fixed, the pain has mostly gone away. However, he is still very sore. They took out the intubation tube, but he has to leave another tube in his stomach for three days to keep removing the acids and prevent upsetting the stitches and repair. This means he won't be able to eat or drink anything for the next three days.

He emphasized that if he had waited any longer, he could have died. His body was the one that alerted him that something was seriously wrong. His wonderful husband Will drove him to the hospital and has been by his side throughout the entire process.

Hospital Experience and Gratitude

Pintauro went on to express his gratitude towards the doctors and nurses at Memorial Care Miller Hospital. He described them as "wonderful." He added that people should "keep me in your prayers for the next few days that the repair sticks and that I can get out of here soon."

Unfortunately, this means that the Book Nooks he was working on will have to wait a few more days. He changed the shipping dates to reflect this. He said, "This is my first major surgery, and my first emergency surgery ever. But I kept it together."

It was an absolutely terrifying experience. He joked that if anyone wanted to send him flowers, he wouldn't be opposed. He was stressed, hungry, in pain, and exhausted. He asked everyone to light a candle for him. Later, an X-ray of his arm showed that it was not broken, which was a bright side in the midst of all the chaos.
