WNBA 2025 Broadcast Schedule Highlights Increased National Exposure for Teams
2025-03-21

In a significant development for the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA), the league has announced an expanded national broadcast schedule for the 2025 season. Among the teams benefiting most from this increased exposure is the New York Liberty, which will feature in 32 out of their 44 regular-season games on national television or streaming platforms. This places them behind only the Fever and Aces, who are set to appear in more nationally televised games. Meanwhile, the Connecticut Sun and Golden State Valkyries will have fewer such appearances with just 17 and 18 games respectively. The announcement was made during ESPN’s NBA Today program, highlighting a growing trend of broadcasting more games across various platforms.

This year marks a special moment as the WNBA expands its regular season from 40 to 44 games, leading to an unprecedented number of matches being aired nationally. Over 175 games are scheduled to be shown starting May 16 and 17, showcasing the league’s commitment to increasing visibility. Commissioner Cathy Engelbert emphasized that following an extraordinary 2024 season filled with remarkable performances, the league aims to capitalize on player movements through free agency and trades by giving fans access to star players and thrilling matchups like never before.

A standout highlight involves the New York Liberty making their national TV debut on ABC on May 17 against the Aces. This game holds particular significance as it kicks off their title defense after defeating the Aces in last year’s semifinals. Fans can look forward to additional matchups between these two powerhouse teams airing later in the season on prominent networks. Furthermore, all four rematch games from the 2025 WNBA Finals between the Liberty and Minnesota Lynx will grace screens on major channels including ESPN, ABC, CBS Network, and NBA TV.

The season concludes for the Liberty on September 11 with a clash against the Chicago Sky on NBA TV. Notably, Disney Media Networks remains the league’s trusted partner, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the entire postseason culminating in the first-ever best-of-seven WNBA Finals series. Such extensive broadcasting not only highlights the league’s growth but also ensures greater accessibility for fans worldwide.

As the WNBA continues to expand its reach, the 2025 season promises to deliver exceptional basketball action to a broader audience. With key matchups and championship contenders like the New York Liberty receiving substantial airtime, fans everywhere can anticipate an engaging season filled with top-tier competition and unforgettable moments.
