2024-12-03
John Hinckley Jr., the individual who once attempted to assassinate President Ronald Reagan, has made a surprising turn of events. On Monday, he announced that he will be opening a music store in Williamsburg, Virginia. The store's location has been revealed with an address on X, and Hinckley has stated that the grand opening is expected to take place in a week or two. This news has sparked a wide range of reactions from his followers on the platform.

Reactions from Followers

Some of Hinckley's roughly 63,000 followers on X have expressed various sentiments. One user wrote, "Glad you're giving it a shot," showing a hint of support. Another user jokingly asked, "Will you be working security John?" adding a touch of lightheartedness to the situation. However, not all reactions were positive. Some argued bluntly that Hinckley "should be in prison," expressing their dissatisfaction with his release and new venture.

Music Career Since Release

Since his release in 2022, Hinckley has been actively trying to make a career out of music. He has posted some of his own works on his public YouTube channel, demonstrating his musical talents. Additionally, he has performed at multiple concerts, showcasing his ability on stage. He has also announced an upcoming performance in February, further solidifying his presence in the music world.

Assassination Attempt and Aftermath

On March 30, 1981, Hinckley shot four people, including President Reagan and former White House press secretary James Brady. Brady suffered from medical complications for the rest of his life, and his 2014 death was ruled a homicide. Hinckley spent more than 30 years in a mental hospital after being found not guilty by reason of insanity. In 2016, he received a conditional release to his mother's home, but in 2022, those conditions were dropped, and he has now been fully free.
