Playing alongside Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce in his rookie year has been an "amazing" opportunity for Worthy. "Oh man, we've played in so many close games and they're just so calm through it all," he says. Their poise and ability to handle any situation have been a lesson for him. "They taught me a lot of poise. Just have poise and be comfortable with what you trained for. Everything you trained for is going to come in the game and it's going to be an opportunity. You have to do it and you have to fulfill what you did in practice and bring it to the game."
Through his partnership with DICK'S Sporting Goods, Worthy is able to give back to Chiefs Kingdom. In October, athletes in the Kansas City area were asked to share how winning a home delivery from the Chiefs rookie would enhance their holiday season. Tanisha and her 8-year-old son AJ, and Molly from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City, were the lucky winners. Each received $2,500 at DICK'S to create their dream holiday gift list, which Worthy then shopped for and delivered. "Oh man, it was cool," he says. "They were super excited, and it just warms my heart to be able to give back to them."
The Chiefs' off-field activities show their commitment to more than just football. They are using their platform to make a difference and bring joy to those around them. Whether it's through their group chat or the Holiday Shopping Sprint, the Chiefs are united both on and off the field.
With players like Xavier Worthy leading the way, the Chiefs are setting an example for other teams. Their ability to stay connected and give back is a testament to their team spirit and values. As they look to make history with a three-peat this season, their off-field connections will surely play a role in their success.
