Amazon Music Launches Its Own Yearly Recap Like Spotify Wrapped
2024-12-03
It's that wonderful time of the year once more. Inside our beloved music-streaming apps, the algorithm elves have started generating personalized "best of" lists similar to Spotify Wrapped and Apple Music Replay. This year, a new contender has emerged. Amazon Music has just launched its own version of a yearly recap.
Amazon Music Delivered - A Play on Real-Life Deliveries
The yearly recap is called Amazon Music Delivered, perhaps a nod to the company's real-life package deliveries. It showcases all your favorite songs, artists, and podcasts from the year. It even reveals "the top request you've made with Alexa." Oh no! I asked Alexa to sing that annoying yet catchy cat song about 25 times this year. Will it count?Available to All Amazon Music Customers
This feature is accessible to all Amazon Music customers. Prime members using the basic version and those who subscribed to the monthly Unlimited plan can enjoy it. Just go to the Library page and tap on the banner that says "2024 Delivered." You can access a playlist by asking Alexa about your top songs of 2024. Amazon also mentions that Alexa might play an "exclusive, special message" from one of your top artists. Although the company didn't specify how many artists participated in this promotion, it says that "eligible customers will see a flashing yellow light on their Alexa devices" if a message is waiting. Most Popular Artists and Songs of the Year
Just like other streamers, Amazon Music has revealed its most popular artists and songs. Taylor Swift took the top artist spot, while "Beautiful Things" by Benson Boone won the top song prize. The various Amazon Music tiers can be a bit confusing, similar to most of the company's digital offerings. Prime members automatically get Amazon Music Prime, which gives access to a catalog of 100 million songs and podcasts. There are no ads for this tier, but members are limited to playlists and shuffles, similar to the free Spotify tier. Amazon Music Unlimited removes all restrictions and costs $10 per month for Prime members and $11 for non-members. Finally, there's Amazon Music with Ads, an ad-filled version of the standard Prime-based tier. It doesn't cost anything and is available to everyone, even those not interested in free and expedited shipping.
