Multiple On-Air Hosts and Exclusive Shows
Música Uno will have multiple on-air hosts, such as radio personalities Evelyn Sicairos hosting La Oficial Radio and Lechero helming ¡Dale Play! Radio. Superstars like Becky G, Rauw Alejandro, and Grupo Frontera will also host exclusive special shows. This provides a platform for Latin artists to share their stories and music. In the past, Apple Music has relied on shows like Zane [Lowe] and Ebro's shows to showcase Latin music. But with Música Uno, there will be more dedicated spaces for Latin artists to express themselves freely. Jerry Pulles, the Latin music programmer at Apple Music, emphasizes the importance of this new station in telling the stories of many other Latin artists.Over the past 10 years, Pulles has overseen the launch of several hosted shows, including the Apple Music 1 series La Fórmula Radio with El Guru, dedicated to Latin music. Now, Música Uno will serve as a hub exclusively for all things Latin, covering various genres within the genre.Tap into Growing Latin Music Popularity
The launch of Música Uno comes four years after Apple Music last launched a new radio station. During this time, Latin music has been experiencing significant growth, with paid streaming subscriptions leading the way. Over the past two years alone, a total of 134 Latin songs have reached Apple Music's Global Daily Top 100, up from 88 the previous two years. The number of música mexicana songs on the chart has more than quadrupled, from 12 to more than 50.Juan Paz, Apple Music's global head of Latin music business, sees the launch of Música Uno as a natural evolution. Radio has always been the heartbeat of Apple Music, and with Música Uno, they will continue to showcase the best and most relevant music and give artists a space for their creative output.Having this station available for free globally is an exciting opportunity to amplify what Apple Music does best - supporting artists and being at the forefront of culture.Artist-First Service and Cultural Representation
Since launching in 2015, Apple Music has made a name for itself as an artist-first service. The launch of Música Uno aligns with this identity. Patty Flores, head of U.S. Latin music business partnerships at the company, emphasizes that by creating a space like Música Uno, they are filling a void where the artist is in charge of their own narrative. The Becky G Show, hosted by the Latin pop hitmaker, will give people a real sense of what life on tour is like. It captures a special moment in Becky G's career, where she gets to fully represent her culture. On Grupo Frontera's show, the band will be able to show a more relaxed side of themselves, sharing their love for music and their dreams. Krystina DeLuna, Apple Music's head of música mexicana editorial, sees Música Uno as an opportunity to continue the growth of música mexicana, which was once considered niche but is now gaining global recognition. The first song played on Música Uno when it launched Tuesday was Bad Bunny's "El CLúB," marking a full circle moment for Apple Music. It shows the growth and evolution of Latin music on the platform.
