Illuminate Your Holidays with the Bangor Holiday Tree's Magical Light and Music Show
Installation and Setup
The tree installation in West Market Square was a meticulous process that took place last week. With over 8,000 lights carefully strung across its branches, it now stands as a centerpiece of the holiday season. The attention to detail is evident, making the tree a sight to behold even before the light and music show begins. This new addition is not just about the lights; it's about the synergy between light and music. The programming and installation work done by Scott Stitham, the technical director for the Collins Center for the Arts at the University of Maine in Orono, ensure that the 12-minute light and music sequence is seamless and captivating.Premiere and Schedule
The much-anticipated light and music show will premiere at 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 29, which also happens to be Bangor's annual "Plaid Friday" event. Plaid Friday offers a more relaxed alternative to Black Friday, with participating businesses downtown opening during their standard hours and offering discounts throughout the day. Some of these discounts are exclusive to shoppers wearing plaid, adding an extra element of fun to the holiday shopping experience. After the 12-minute show, there will be a 30-minute break, and then the display will repeat every day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. throughout the holiday season. This means that residents and visitors alike can enjoy the magic of the light and music show at their convenience.Sponsorship and Donation
The display is made possible through the sponsorship of Hollywood Casino Hotel & Raceway and the generous donation of the tree by Dan Sprague, the owner of Sprague's Nursery & Garden Center. Dan has been donating the tree to the city for more than 25 years, and his contribution has become an integral part of the Bangor holiday tradition. The partnership between Downtown Bangor Partnership and these sponsors has brought this amazing light and music show to life. It's a testament to the community's spirit and the dedication of those involved in making the holiday season special.
