The Exciting Drop of Yearly Spotify Wrapped and Other Music Streaming Recaps
2024-11-25
For Spotify users, the most thrilling day of the year is just around the corner - when their yearly Wrapped makes its grand appearance. Spotify's Wrapped enables users to take a trip down memory lane with their beloved tunes and get a detailed look at their streaming data from the past 12 months. They can share these stats with friends, engage in friendly competitions over top artists, and even have a good laugh at the somewhat embarrassing songs that found their way onto their charts. But what about those who prefer Apple Music or Soundcloud? Let's explore the end-of-the-year recaps of various music streaming services.

Spotify Wrapped: A Year in Tunes

Spotify has yet to officially announce the release date of 2024 Wrapped. However, based on past years, it is expected to drop in late November or early December. Over the years, the release date has been gradually bumped up. Last year, it came out on Nov. 29, while in 2022 it was on Nov. 30. In 2021 and 2020, it was released on Dec. 1, and in 2019 it was on Dec. 5 and in 2018 on Dec. 6. Spotify has assured users that the rumor about stopping data tracking on Oct. 31 is false. When the Wrapped drops, users need to update their Spotify to the latest version. The "Spotify Wrapped" package will appear on the front page of the iOS and Android apps, and they can expect to see an invitation to view their report upon opening the app.

It's a time for users to relive their musical journey and discover interesting insights about their listening habits. It's not just about the numbers; it's about the memories and emotions associated with each song.

Apple Music's "Replay": Competing with Wrapped

Apple Music listeners also have their end-of-the-year treat. Apple Music Replay compiles their listening data for the year, including top songs, artists, albums, and total minutes listened. Although the exact release date has not been revealed yet, last year it dropped on Nov. 28. The platform has already announced singer Billie Eilish as the 2024 Artist of the Year. To view their Replay, Apple Music users can locate the Listen Now tab in the app, scroll to the Replay section, tap the Replay '24 playlist, and then select the plus button in the top right. They can then check out their Replay '24 throughout the year in the Playlists section of their library.

Apple Music's Replay offers a comprehensive look at a user's musical preferences and provides a great way to end the year on a high note.

YouTube's "My Music" Recap: Mimicking Spotify

Last year, YouTube Music listeners got their first taste of an end-of-year music recap. Similar to Spotify, they can see their most-listened-to songs, artists, and albums, and the platform matches them to moods and themes. To access their YouTube Music Recap, they just need to log into their account on the app or in a browser. They can also access it from the regular YouTube app.

It's a fun way for YouTube Music users to celebrate their musical year and discover new music based on their preferences.

SoundCloud's "Playback": Yearly Listening Habits

SoundCloud has its version of Spotify Wrapped called SoundCloud Playback. It doesn't have the same social media-friendly features as the other streaming platform recaps, but it does summarize each user's listening habits on a year-by-year basis. Playback is simply a playlist of the most-listened-to songs from the last year. SoundCloud users don't have access to their Playback playlists for 2024 yet, but they should receive an email when it is ready. Since it is based on music played between January 1 and November 30 of each year, the Playback playlists are anticipated to drop soon.

It's a great way for SoundCloud users to keep track of their musical journey and share their favorite songs with others.

Pandora's "Playback": No Longer Available?

According to Pandora Community posts, the music-streaming platform's Playback user year-in-review is no longer available. It is unclear when officials discontinued the feature or how long it was available. This is a disappointment for Pandora users who were looking forward to their end-of-year recap.

It's a reminder that music streaming services are constantly evolving, and users need to stay updated on the latest features and offerings.
