Where Pastries Meet Pottery - James and Oliver's Baking Adventure

Returning to the Magic

James Phelps, who played Fred Weasley, had a unique experience when he returned to the Great Hall to announce the winner of the baking competition. "It was really bizarre," he said. "A quick flashback of 11 years of memories flooded my mind. From the first time I walked through those doors to filming in the fourth movie, when they transformed into old men - it all came back in an instant. And then, announcing the winner, knowing that some people's lives would change forever, was a truly cool moment."The Great Hall holds a special place in the hearts of Potterheads worldwide. It's the site of many back-to-school feasts and perhaps a few magical battles. For the Phelps brothers, it holds even more memories from their youth. As Oliver joked, "Imagine going back to your high school. You have all these memories from years ago, and now it's been updated with a fresh coat of paint. It looks better than ever. Being able to share that with Bonnie Wright, Evanna Lynch, and Warwick Davis - we had a lot of reminiscing while we were there."

New Memories and Family

Oliver Phelps brought a new dimension to the experience by bringing his oldest daughter to the set. "I never thought I'd be in there with her," he said. "She's not too familiar with the Potter films, but she loves baking shows and the creative side. She was more interested in seeing the final cakes than the Great Hall itself." This added a personal touch to the filming, creating new memories for the family.

Baking and Potter Magic

The bakers on the show are big fans of Harry Potter, and it means a lot to them to be part of this unique experience. "We made a point of telling them that they are the first people to create a bake like this here," James said. "Only the movie crew had cooked for the Great Hall before. So, this is a great honor. And they understood that completely."For the brothers, the magic of the original series still shines brightly. "When you see the impact it has on different fans, it never gets old," Oliver said. He also shared a lighthearted moment when they casually sat at the head table on set, only to be stopped by the studio tour staff. "It was as if we'd gone to the British Museum and pulled out a sarcophagus - some things never change."The "Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking" finale will air on Thursday, Dec. 19, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Food Network, continuing the legacy of the beloved franchise.
