Merchandise for a Good Cause

Van Der Beek posed in nostalgic photos, holding a football and wearing a replica West Canaan Coyotes jersey similar to his "Varsity Blues" character Jonathan "Mox" Moxon. He captioned the images, "Merch drop! Excited to celebrate the 25th anniversary of #VarsityBlues with a limited edition #4 Moxon jersey — each one personally autographed by me. Grab yours now at the link in my bio or head over to JVDB.Shop." 100% of his net proceeds will go to families dealing with the financial burden of cancer, including his own. The jerseys are available on his website in multiple sizes and with two price points: a $40 standard replica jersey and an $80 autographed jersey. This fundraising effort comes after he revealed to PEOPLE last month that he was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. He shared that he is "taking steps to resolve it, with the support of his incredible family." He and his wife Kimberly have six children: Olivia, Joshua, Annabel, Emilia, Gwendolyn, and Jeremiah. In a Thanksgiving post on Nov. 28, he reflected on his cancer diagnosis. Alongside a photo of his family, he wrote, "It’s been a tough year… and I’m thankful for all of it. For the giant life re-direct cancer has placed in my path. For the gift of knowing what it feels like to have friends come through on such a profound level, and in ways I never would have been able to ask for had I not been going through it. I’m grateful to each and every one of you who has reached out and sent good vibes and prayers. It all lands and makes a difference. I’m more grateful than ever to my superhuman wife who has shown up on levels I never knew possible. Who has shown me what unconditional love is and the magic that comes from that. I am in awe of you, @vanderkimberly. And of course, I’m beyond thankful for the little blond army of hearts who keep me present, active and inspired just by being you. I love you guys beyond."

Participating in The Real Full Monty

In addition to selling merch, Van Der Beek will contribute to the cause by participating in The Real Full Monty. A special event where he will be joined by a "daring group of male celebrities" who have volunteered to strip down and raise awareness for prostate, testicular, and colorectal cancer testing and research. The two-hour special features Van Der Beek alongside Anthony Anderson, Taye Diggs, Chris Jones, Tyler Posey, and Bruno Tonioli as they train and rehearse for "the most revealing performance of their careers." Leading up to the final disrobing, the men will expand their limits, test their modesty, and strengthen their bond with a series of rehearsals and experiences, both private and public, designed to build confidence and remove them far from their comfort zone and forge a brotherhood. Along the way, each celebrity will share their personal stories of how cancer has impacted their lives. The Real Full Monty airs Monday, Dec. 9 at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
