Loose Women panellist Jane Moore found herself at the center of a controversy when she was appointed to cleaning duties in the I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle. Sunday's episode saw former boxing champion Barry McGuigan and McFly Danny star Jones take on the new leadership role and reassign chores among the campmates.

A Tale of Ageism and Sexism in the I'm A Celebrity Jungle

Appointment and Initial Tensions

After a public vote, former boxing champion Barry McGuigan and McFly Danny star Jones were appointed as the new leaders of the camp. Their first order of duty was to reassign chores, which led to tensions when they put 62-year-old Jane Moore and 36-year-old N-Dubz star Tulisa Contostavlos on washing up. Moore exclaimed, "Is that because we're women?" This question highlighted the potential for ageism and sexism in the assignment.Former Irish athlete McGuigan denied that gender influenced their decision, stating, "We were looking at you for possible water, and I thought that you're 62 years old, you're a year younger than me." However, before he could finish his point, Moore branded his decision "ageist and sexist."

Moore's Request and Miscommunication

Moore had previously asked Jones not to put her on cleaning just before they went off to make the decision. The singer thought she had wanted to be assigned to the chore, leading to a miscommunication. BBC Radio 1 presenter Dean McCullough tried to lead his fellow campmates to jokingly chant "we stand with Jane," but McGuigan told him, "Don't start that nonsense. We didn't know that Jane was going to be upset."Moore added, "I have emptied the dunny, tended the fire on my own solidly for nine days, and you've given me the one job I don't want." This showed her frustration with the assignment.

Contostavlos' Perspective

Singer Contostavlos later told the Bush Telegraph, "Slight rumble in the jungle. Not everyone was happy with that. I didn't mind doing the dishes." This gave another perspective on the situation within the camp.During dinner time, the contestants noted that the new camp leaders were looking dejected. When asked why, McGuigan said, "We don't like upsetting people, we genuinely don't." Moore reassured McGuigan that she was "only winding him up," but later, while washing the dishes, she said, "Seems much like the 1950s."I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! continues at 9pm on ITV1, STV and ITVX.
