Early Musical Roots
Stephanie Ferrett has been a singer since childhood. She fondly recalls singing with her four sisters and brother. "We grew up in a musical home with the theater bug. Someone was always in a play," she says. Her dad and sisters would do theater, while she would shine in elementary school talent shows and local fairs.As she grew her own family, the love of music continued. She's mom to a 5-year-old, an 8-year-old, and twin 11-year-olds. "I make up jingles. Everyone knows that when I hear a quote, I'll make a little song about it," she shares. "I'm always singing, and it's starting to rub off on my kids too."Favorite Divas and Influences
When it comes to favorites, Ferrett is a fan of the divas. Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and Céline Dion are some of her heroes. "I grew up singing Céline Dion. She taught me how to sing. I used to sing her albums, cover to cover," she recalls. "I would stare in the mirror and sing all day long. In 2021, the “Hey Mom” videos started gaining traction. Ferrett had been sharing online for a long time. She started a YouTube channel years ago and did some Tyler Perry stage plays in 2009. After doing “I Can See Your Voice” in 2024, her videos took off.The appearance on the show led to more work on social media. She connected with interesting people like actress Halle Berry. "I finished an album this year called Bloom with Van Hunt. She discovered me through my ‘Hey Mom’ videos. It was a crazy part of my life that started and ended quickly," she shares.Family's Role and Future Plans
Ferrett's older kids are excited about her viral success. "They love YouTube and things like that. They joke about getting a shout out in my videos. It's a family affair. We're all in this together," she says.She continues to promote the album but is open to where the journey will take her. "It made me realize that fame means nothing without family and religion. I'm grateful for the opportunities and hope to support my family. If it doesn't happen, that's okay too. I'm leaving it in God's hands," she adds.
