I was 15 and didn’t grow up with a TV.” However, as the show progressed, she developed a special bond with Ringwald. “Like, every one of my parents’ friends were like, ‘You’re working with Molly Ringwald!’ ” she added. “And I was like, ‘What is her … Why? I don’t get it.’ Because I had never seen Breakfast Club or Sixteen Candles or any of her films.”For Woodley, not being familiar with John Hughes films that made Ringwald a star in the ‘80s as part of the Brat Pack turned out to be a positive thing. She got to know Ringwald as a beautiful older sister and motherly figure who was very protective of her authenticity as a young person. “She protected me in that way,” Woodley added. “and I’m so thankful for that because there is a pressure for people to grow up very quickly, especially when it comes to Hollywood.”
