2025-03-04

The second edition of the Whippersnap Music & Arts Festival in Florida, held from February 19 to 22 at the Florida Sand Music Ranch in Brooksville, showcased an incredible lineup of artists and a devoted audience. Despite unseasonably cold nights, the festival thrived with top-notch production, exceptional music, and vibrant performances. The event featured both established acts and newcomers, creating a unique blend of genres that captivated attendees. This year's highlights included performances by returning Jam Cruise favorites and fresh talent, making it a memorable experience for all.

The festival kicked off with a pre-party on Wednesday, featuring Steel'n Peaches, a Central Florida Allman Brothers tribute band, who energized early arrivals with two sets. Thursday saw Sooza, Barefoot Fred, shoeless soul, Bodhicitta, Tire Fire, Organ Fairchild, Joe Marcinek Band, and The Firewater Tent Revival taking the stage. Each act brought its own flavor, setting the tone for what was to come. Friday's lineup included Kat Hines, Tasty Vibrations, The Reality, Displace, The Ain't Sisters, Greenhouse Lounge, Minim, Guavatron, and Polyrhythmics. Saturday brought more excitement with Chicago Farmer, The Moonstone Riders, The HeadTones, Antelope, Tru Phonic, Future Joy, Ajeva, and headliners The New Mastersounds closing the event.

One of the standout moments came when Kanika Moore joined various acts throughout the weekend, adding her powerful vocals to songs like "Groove is in the Heart" and "Do You Believe In Love." Her presence electrified the crowd and highlighted the collaborative spirit of the festival. Another highlight was the performance by Displace, a quartet known for their energetic sunrise sets on Jam Cruise. Despite leader Chris Sgammato's initial vocal strain, the band delivered a mesmerizing set that included deep jams and new material.

Throughout the festival, the production team led by Shane LaVigne ensured flawless execution. From Laser Fox's spectacular lighting to the impeccable sound design, every aspect contributed to an immersive experience. Attendees praised the quality of the performances and the overall atmosphere, which fostered connections between musicians and fans alike. The intimate setting allowed for spontaneous collaborations and interactions that added to the festival's charm.
